Islamabad, July 03: Stepping up its rhetoric on Kashmir, Pakistan on Friday said the peace in the region cannot be discussed without the resolution of the long-standing issue with India.

"Kashmir issue can't be kept out of the bilateral talks," Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told reporters at the Multan airport. "We can't discuss peace without (settlement of) Kashmir issue."

The Pakistan Foreign Minister said the world has come to accept that "Kashmir is disputed."

He also asked India to "sympathise" with Pakistan's fight against terror as its army is fighting Taliban in the troubled northwest region bordering Afghanistan.

His comments came a day after the Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman claimed that the "very fragile" situation in Jammu and Kashmir cannot be tackled through administrative and political measures as suggested by Home Minister P Chidambaram.

Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit told a weekly news briefing yesterday that it was "high time" India honoured its "commitments" to the world community and the Kashmiri people by allowing them to exercise their "right to self-determination."

At the same time, Pakistan is committed to provide "moral and diplomatic support" to the Kashmiris in their "struggle for self-determination," Basit said.

Its hight time that pakistan focus on its internal matter than kashmir for the time being. Talibs dont care for kashmir, all they want is sharia law in pakistan and afghan, and beat the hell out of pak military. Peace in pakistan has got nothing to do with kashmir.

Pakistan could not afford to increase the tension with india by issuing such statements.

East Pakistan broke and Bangladesh formed. Pakistan think India did this. Actually Pakistan dictatorship was so cruel there that there army raped thousands of them. So anti-Pakistan moment gathered and during war with India in 1971, East Pakistan army surrendered with 90,000 soldiers and Bangladesh was born. Surrendering 90,000 troops is still a record in any war.
So now to take revenge they want to break India by capturing the only muslim populated state of India which is unfortunately on the border of Pakistan. They are trying all things to destabilise that region.

Special about kashmir is that one who controls kashmir gets the automatic control of all the rivers which originate from kashmir/himalayas. And rivers play a very important role in Indian subcontinent. We have discussed this in other thread, everything here depends upon monsoon and rrivers. Besides india is eying the mega project of joining all the rivers in india. If pakistan misbehaves, india can divert all the water towards india turning pakistan into a desert.

Second, one who control kashmir has a strategic edge over other from military view point in any war. History of 3 wars has proved this. India won all 3 times.

I will tell you one thing honestly, neither india nor pakistan cares for kashmiris. Both of them want is all kashmir. And kashmiris have allways been fools hopping here and there, they dont have any specific stand on this issue.

But india have moral grounds to have control of kashmir because during partition the hindu king of kashmir wanted to be with india and pakistan agreed. And in return india gave some part of punjab although it was supposed to be of india. And then LOC (Line of control) were finaised. But then in late 60's pakistan suddenly learnt they should now have kashmir, and started the wars with india, which are still ON. I just say, guys, whatever done is done, respect the LOC. And india is not a rogue country that will take inappropriate use of control of kashmir to hurt pakistan. But pakistan is never rest assured.

In addition to above India will never want to loose the major tourist destination, which allways had the potential but never got the boost because of unrest in the region. There are hardly any places in india as beautiful as kashmir.

i heard about the beauty of the area.feroz told me about all the flower gardens and beautiful mountain sides in older bolywood movies were from kashmir

Yes, true, almost all of the beautiful scene in older bollywood movies were from kashmir, until someone started the trend of outdoor shooting in alps mountain
